Osun Governorship Election: Davido Calls On President Trump, International Community To Monitor Poll

Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called on United States President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election amid growing concerns over possible violence, intimidation and disruption of the democratic process.

Adeleke made the appeal in a statement addressed directly to President Trump as political activities intensify ahead of the election.

In the statement, the music star urged the United States and other members of the international community to monitor developments surrounding the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that the outcome of the poll reflects the wishes of the electorate.

“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.”

Adeleke said concerns over the security situation surrounding the election had continued to grow, stressing that residents of the state should be allowed to exercise their constitutional rights without intimidation or fear.

“There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear.”

The singer further appealed to the United States government and the broader international community to pay close attention to the conduct of the election and encourage relevant Nigerian authorities to take steps to safeguard voters and the integrity of the ballot.

“I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected.”

Adeleke also called for a peaceful electoral process, stressing that the people of Osun State should not be subjected to violence or intimidation during the election.
