The Lagos State Government has announced a strategic partnership with the African Cultural Festival (ACF) ahead of its 2025 edition to strengthen the state’s global cultural influence and deepen diaspora engagement.

The international cultural exchange, themed “Africa to the World: Culture, Creativity, and Collaboration,” will begin with countdown activities across Lagos in July and culminate in a major festival in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on September 19 and 20.

Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, said the partnership aligns with the state’s THEMES+ agenda, focusing on economic diversification and cultural diplomacy. He noted that beyond being a festival of colours, it is a platform to tell Lagos’ story and elevate its presence among global cultural hubs.

Aregbe described the collaboration as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation and stressed the need to strengthen diaspora participation in building a united and prosperous Africa.

He revealed that Lagos would be represented at the event by a delegation of creatives, entrepreneurs, and innovators passionate about culture and its global relevance.

The 2025 festival is expected to attract African and diaspora leaders, U.S. legislators, global creatives, and stakeholders from culture, media, and enterprise. Cultural icons like Nike Okundaye and Miss Phipps will be honoured during the ‘Celebrating African Elders’ event.

Highlights include the Africa Arise Leadership Summit, ACF Marketplace, Taste of Africa, African I-D-E-N-T-I-T-Y Exhibition, NextGen Connect Youth Forum, African Diaspora Summit, ACF Runway, and the official launch of Duduplugs, an innovation hub designed to connect Africa’s creative economy to global markets.

The festival, spearheaded by ACI Entertainment with operations in Lagos and Pennsylvania, aims to elevate Africa’s creative economy on the global stage while boosting tourism and cultural diplomacy for Lagos.
