Celebrity fashion designer, Veekee James, has defended her decision to frequently appear in public with her husband, Femi Atere, dismissing criticism from a social media user who questioned why he accompanies her to events.

Veekee made the remarks in a video shared on her Snapchat on Sunday while responding to a troll who suggested that her husband did not have “a life of his own” because he was always seen with her.

Reacting to the comment, the fashion entrepreneur said marriage was about sharing life together, stressing that she and her husband had intentionally built their lives around each other.

“Yes, my husband does not have a life of his own. His life is my life, the same way I don’t have a life of my own.

“My life is his life. He is me and I am him. Together we are like padlock and key,” she said.

Veekee argued that those criticising their relationship did not understand the meaning of marriage.

“When you marry your own, separate him. When you marry your own, remove him from your life and keep him somewhere else.

“You don’t know what marriage is. His life is mine, my life is his. Everything he is, is mine,” she said.

She maintained that marriage meant partners shared every aspect of their lives rather than living independently of each other.

The designer added that she and her husband would continue attending public events together regardless of criticism.

“You’ve not seen anything. You will see me and my husband anywhere possible, everywhere possible, you will see us,” she said.

Veekee ended the video on a humorous note, describing her husband as her “personal handbag” while showing clips of the couple together.
