The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has named Max Air and Air Côte d’Ivoire as the two airlines notorious for ignoring passenger complaints on the domestic and international routes, respectively.

Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection for NCAA, made the disclosure on Thursday in a post on his X handle.

Achimugu wrote:

“According to NCAA data, Max Air has been the most unresponsive domestic airline per passenger complaints and determinations by the NCAA CPD. In some cases, there have been allegations of threats to travel agencies for daring to report to the CAA.

“This will be put to a stop immediately.

“Internationally, the Ivorian operator, Air Côte d’Ivoire, has been reported for cancelling flights on the days they do not have “enough passengers,” and that they try and merge flights across days to hit their desired figures,” he stated.

The NCAA, he promised, will take swift action in both situations.

While acknowledging the necessity of disruptions in airline operations, “compliance with the regulations is mandatory… not a choice of convenience,” Achimugu noted.
