The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, on Thursday visited Iresaadu in Oyo State as part of his ongoing town hall engagements across Ogbomosoland, despite earlier resistance from some quarters of the host community.
Iresaadu, an ancient town near Ogbomoso, had previously expressed reservations about the monarch’s planned visit, urging him not to overstep traditional boundaries. However, the visit proceeded peacefully, marking the third in a series of consultative meetings being held across the region.
Addressing the gathering, Oba Olaoye emphasized the need for unity among all communities in Ogbomosoland, noting that collaboration is vital to the region’s sustainable growth and prosperity. He unveiled a comprehensive 25-Year Developmental Roadmap aimed at transforming key sectors.
The Soun expressed appreciation to the Iresaadu kingmakers, community leaders, and residents for their warm reception. He also acknowledged the presence and support of other traditional rulers from the Surulere Local Government Area.
As part of his development agenda, the monarch announced the formation of 13 strategic committees to address critical areas, including education, healthcare, security, agriculture, infrastructure, and the digital economy.
Oba Olaoye highlighted the importance of youth development and leadership training, stating that future prosperity depends on preparing young people for active roles in governance and innovation.
He also advocated for a strategic integration of food security with digital technology, stressing that equitable development across all local governments in Ogbomosoland must be inclusive and forward-looking.
The monarch was accompanied on the visit by high-ranking chiefs from Ogbomoso, including the Onisapa of Isapa, among others.
