POLICE DECLARES OBESERE NOT GUILTY OF RAPE ALLEGATIONS

Fuji exponent, Abass Akande Obesere is innocent of any rape allegation; Lagos State Police Command has clarified.

Ms. Ngozi Braide, Lagos State Command Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) on Thursday cleared the air about Obesere’s involvement in the case. She said investigation reveals that Obesere did not do anything of the nature but that he is only a victim of blackmail.

It is was a ‘frame-up’ and the accuser, Olanike Olaiya, is a blackmailer and extortionist, thus Obesere is absolved of any culpability”, Braide said.

One reason the PPRO stated for her assertion is that the accuser has refused to honour police invitation. Another is that the doctor’s report says she was not raped.

“In our investigation, we are made to understand that this lady, of her own volition, went to Obesere’s house in search of Obesere, and spent the night there”, Braide explained.

The issue started in March, after Olaiya accused Obesere of forcefully having sex with her at his Okota Home in Lagos after which he penetrated her genitals with a voodoo ring causing great discomfort and bleeding.

Braide said Olaiya cooked for everybody in the house before they went to sleep that night, pointing out that people in the house have made statements which attest to Obesere’s innocence.

“I think there was mutual relationship between them. During the period she was in the house, they had canal knowledge of each other and she left him after which she went to the station to report that she was raped”, Braide added.

“Before she went to make such allegation, she had already contacted Obesere on phone to demand certain amount of money that she was bleeding and so on. The musician then referred her to a hospital where the doctor examined her and didn’t see anything abnormal. And for further clarification she was advised to go for a scan, before she left and never returned to the hospital.”

Braide accused Olaiya of lying about her address in a calculated attempt to ruin Obesere’s reputation.

“We have discovered that the address she left at the station is a fake” she said. “I think it is a calculated attempt maybe to tarnish the image of the public figure.”

Braide assured the public that investigation in to the case is still ongoing and that the Police would get to the very root of the matter.
