Orange Group Boss, Sir Tony Ezenna Loses Mum

Death has occurred of Ezinne Comfort Ezenna( Ada Jesus), the Matriarch of the Ezenna family of Owerre Akokwa in Ideato North local government area of Imo state. Aged 88, the late Ezinne Ezenna was the mother of top industrialist and Chairman of Orange Group, Sir Tony Ezenna, OFR ( Ijele Akokwa).

A press statement released by the Media Adviser to Sir Ezenna, Ingram Osigwe, indicated that the late matriarch of the Ezenna family died on Saturday, November 9, 2025 and will be buried at her husband’s country home, Owerre -Akokwa, Ideato North LGA, Imo State on January 15, 2026.

Born on August 1st, 1937 at Owerre Akokwa, the late Ezinne Ezenna obtain her First School Leaving Certificate in the 50s, then known as Standard Six, but could not advance further in her academic pursuit, prompting her to delve into commerce.

According to the press statement, the late Ezinne Ezenna was a community leader; a resilient and enterprising woman who overcame vissicitudes and obsufucations after her husband’s death to singlehandedly train her children.

Having lost her husband, Sir Ernest Ukwandu Ebiliekwe Ezenna (Chairman, Eastern Industrial Chemist) 40 years ago in March 1985, Late Ezinne Comfort Ezenna stood like a rock for the family.

In her later years, she lived a puritanical spiritual and Oblate life that led to her Son Sir Tony Ezenna to establish Pora Caeli Cistercian Monastery in Owerre Akokwa.

“It is to Ezinne Ezenna dexterity, entrepreneurial spirit, sound moral and Christian impartion on her children that her first son, Sir Tony Ezenna rose to build a thriving business conglomerate, Orange Drugs. She was indeed a great woman, a woman of valour and purpose”, says Osigwe.

He further explained that like her son, Sir Tony Ezenna, Ezinne Comfort Ezenna was a selfless giver, a lover of education, an unassuming philanthropist and a devout Catholic who gave out to the downtrodden ceaselessly.

“Until her death, Ezinne’s heart beat for the poor. She was a great source of support and hope for indigent members of the society, including establishing tuition- free Primary and Nursery school where many pupils received free education.

“Her service to the poor and needy is legendary and shall never be forgotten”, Osigwe further said in the statement.

Apart from Sir Tony Ezenna, Ezinne Comfort Ezenna is survived by many other Children Grand and Great Grand Children, Sons- inlaw, Daughers-inlaw including Rev. father Okey Ezenna, Mrs Georgylyne Chinwe, Mrs Ngozi Nwana, Pharmacist Ernest Ezenna, Mrs Chika Mgbemena, Mr Kelechi Ezenna, Lady Lizzy Ezenna, Chief Vincent Mgbemena and many others.
