Reports reaching us has it that the Lagos Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN were at the forefront of nominating Akinwunmi Ambode for the gubernatorial race under the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Sources within the party disclosed that following the agitation of the religious organisation for a Christian Governor in the state come 2015, they were mandated to come up with an ‘upright’ man for the post, hence the nomination of Ambode.

Our impeccable informant, who pleaded anonymity further informed that the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG was also in the know of how Ambode was anointed by the party leaders.

One of the party leaders in Lagos state further disclosed that the Lagos Chapter of CAN hijacked a political gathering and offered to fund the meeting as a way of showing their solidarity for Ambode as their preferred candidate.

“Even Baba was aware of Ambode’s emergence before he came out under the APC. He was almost single-handedly picked by Lagos CAN because they saw him as a very strong individual.

“He was highly rated as a good christian and following the agitation for a christian governor, Jagaban demanded a candidate from CAN.
“Ambode had been anointed before the primaries and we are all sure that he will emerge victorious during next year’s election,” the party stalwart stated.
