Reports reaching us have indicated that various political interest groups within All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja constituency are not happy with political style of a former Lagos State Commissioner, Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson. It was reliably gathered that politics in Ikeja is on fire due to political differences among the groups. It was alleged that Kemi Nelson has singlehandedly assumed the leadership of the party in Ikeja without the support of grassroots and other relevant groups within the party. This ugly development seems to have torn the party apart in the constituency. The opposing groups do not want Kemi Nelson to see herself as goddess of Ikeja politics.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that other groups moving against Kemi Nelson are also die hard loyalists of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the party. The groups are clamoring for one of their own to be representing good people of Ikeja constituency.
It would be recalled that during the task force reconciliation meeting held in March 2017, former Chairman of Ikeja local government Area, Hon. Wale Odunlami, who strongly believes in the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , opens up to the representative of Tinubu, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, who presided over the caucus meeting that there are four political interest groups in Ikeja who are die hard loyalists and good followers of Tinubu as the leader of Ikeja constituency and not Kemi Nelson, who has proclaimed herself as goddess of Ikeja politics. Odunlami disclosed that these groups are not happy with Kemi Nelson’s style of politics.
Hon. wale Odunlami further disclosed at that meeting that the four political interest groups in Ikeja constituency are: Kemi Nelson Group; Hon. Wale Odunlami, Irorun Group; Dr Adesola Taiwo group and DG Jafojo group. He also stated that all these groups have been working in the interest of the party in Ikeja.
wale Odunlami further disclosed that claim of Kemi Nelson that there are no issues in Ikeja is like playing to the gallery and not the truth.
At that meeting Kemi Nelson was alleged to have singlehandedly imposed and installed the past Executive Secretary and the present Sole Administrator of the local government area. There is also an allegation that Kemi Nelson is boasting to impose and install the next chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area. This development is already tearing the party apart in Ikeja.
In the same vein, at the said meeting Dr. Adesola Taiwo also raised the non progressive attitude of Mrs. Kemi Nelson towards the party members in Ikeja and how she neglected the people that worked for the party’s success during the last election, while only her group is enjoying the dividend. It was also alleged that Kemi Nelson instructed present Sole Administrator to ignore members of the party. Dr Adesola also complained about the membership of the task force on the ground that only kemi Nelson’s group has the majority of twelve members out of fifteen members.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that aggrieved members of the party are waiting for the final verdict from the national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the local government election draws nearer.
