According to vanguard, President Bola Tinubu has withdrawn the reappointment of Dr Muheeba Dankaka as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, FCC, and has named former member of the House of Representatives, Ayo Omidiran, as her replacement.

The decision, announced on Tuesday, marks a significant change in the leadership of the commission, which is responsible for ensuring equitable distribution of public posts and socio-economic amenities across the country.

In the same announcement, President Tinubu appointed Mohammed Musa as the Commission’s secretary, while retaining Kayode Oladele from Ogun State as commissioner.

Oladele, also a former member of the House of Representatives, was first appointed to the FCC by President Tinubu in 2024.

He had been serving as the commission’s acting chairman following the expiration of Dankaka’s first-term tenure.

The changes are seen as part of Tinubu’s broader strategy to refresh the leadership of key federal agencies and commissions.

While no official reason was provided for Dankaka’s removal, the presidency emphasised that the appointments were made in line with the administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and ensuring efficiency in public service.

A statement from the presidency noted that the new appointees were expected to “uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, and unity in the discharge of their duties,” underscoring the critical role of the FCC in maintaining national cohesion.

Omidiran, who represented Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency of Osun State between 2011 and 2019, is expected to assume office immediately, alongside other newly appointed officials.
