Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially launched her new attempt to set a Guinness World Record. She aims to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice using 250 bags of rice. The record-breaking cook, who became a global sensation in 2023 for her marathon cooking, began her ambitious challenge at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, in front of a large, energetic crowd of supporters.

Before the cooking began, Hilda and her mother shared a touching moment, praying together for divine strength, protection, and endurance throughout the process.

This intimate scene received an emotional reaction from spectators, many of whom recognize her mother as a crucial source of support on Hilda’s journey. In a post, Hilda confirmed the cleanliness of the pot, stating, “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”

Originally, the event was set to take place at Muri Okunola Park but organizers moved it to Eko Hotel due to the overwhelming public interest, which saw over 20,000 people register to attend.

The Scale of the New Challenge

Hilda’s new endeavor goes beyond her previous record. She is using a specially designed pot that measures six meters wide and six meters tall. The final dish is expected to feed thousands of people. This new record attempt is sponsored by the seasoning brand Gino and is a part of the “Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci.”

The event includes more than just the cooking challenge; it also features a variety of food exhibitions, cultural showcases, live entertainment, and other immersive experiences designed to celebrate Jollof rice as a symbol of identity and community.

A Community Rallies Behind Its Star

The change in venue from Muri Okunola Park to Eko Hotel highlights the massive support Hilda Baci commands. The original park, with a capacity of 3,500 people, simply could not accommodate the more than 20,000 people who registered to be part of the historic event. Organizers prioritized the safety and comfort of attendees by moving to the larger Eko Hotel location. This is a testament to the strong connection Hilda has with her fans, who have continued to rally behind her and her ambitious culinary pursuits.
