SHAME BUT TRUE – REMI LAGOS BUILDING TURNED TO STRIP BAR/ CLUB….. + Photos Inside

Late fashion designer- Oluremi Osholake popularly known as Remi Lagos would probably be shaking her head right now at the latest development taking place at her once Bode Thomas, Surulere – Lagos  factory cum residence. The once quiet but well visited “Osholake House” of Remi Lagos , which was well patronized by high fashion flyers , dignitaries and the likes is now a red light district haven of some sorts .

The new tenants of the once designer outlet, have transformed the place to a strip bar / nightclub . The CRIB as it is now known, can be seen afar with brightly colored walls and a sign in front displaying a menu of their “intimate laced”orders as seen below .

Just recently, the new owners changed the sign post and put up another one without the “wordly” menu .

It is such a shame to the Nigerian Fashion industry that Remi Lagos memories could not be preserved and be allowed to blow away in the sands of time. Remi Lagos in her lifetime represented Nigeria across borders at various fashion events , clinched various awards and was also a member of FADAN (Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria) . She was well know for revamping and modernising the “kaftan and boubou” .

In the western world, we see everyday how brands like Alexander Mcqueen and Versace still lived on despite their owners passing . what do you think the problem is here? How can we preserve the memories of our fashion heroes gone past?
