PRESS STATEMENT
By Shakirat Ayobami Kareem
My name is Shakirat Ayobami Kareem, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Whiterose Group.
In 2025, a direct criminal complaint was filed against me without my knowledge at the Federal Capital Territory Chief Magistrate Court, Abuja.
The complaint was filed by a lady, Adebinpe Abidemi Ogunjimi, through Yakubu Eleto Chambers.
Adebinpe Abidemi Ogunjimi is known through a valid means of identification and the UK electoral roll, but she presented herself before the court using a false identity.
The false identity she used before the court is Adebinpe Musadoluwa Audullai.
In that complaint, I was made the second defendant, joined in a case with somebody I do not have any relationship with, somebody I have never met, and somebody I knew nothing about.
The first defendant in the case is Elizabeth Aishat Anjorin, popularly known as Lizzy Anjorin.
The complainant accused the defendants of criminal defamation, acts and conduct likely to breach public peace, tranquility, order and decorum, and the presentation of false, malicious, and defamatory statements.
No court process was ever served on me.
Instead, an order was obtained to serve me in a place I have never been to in my entire life, despite the fact that the complainant’s spouse in Nigeria knows my office located in Lekki, Lagos State.
He has been there before. He even used the signage at the junction of my office for his advertisement in order to intimidate me, and the advertisement is still there till today, the 8th of February 2026.
The building where my office is located is well known on my street because it is a mall, and it is clearly represented by my brand name, Whiterose Mall, located at 6 Adewunmi Adebimpe Drive, Lekki Phase One, Lagos.
Both Adebinpe Abidemi Ogunjimi, her spouse and the lawyer Yakubu Eleto have my WhatsApp number. They have all spoken to me on WhatsApp before.
My office address is also well known through the internet.
I live in Lagos.
I reside in Lagos.
My office is in Lagos.
Yet the case was taken outside Lagos State and filed in Abuja.
The first defendant was represented by her lawyer, A.U. Ogboi, who filed a preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court and the competence of the direct criminal complaint.
The preliminary objection raised issues including whether the court had the power to entertain the complaint, whether the summons was incompetent, whether the affidavit of urgency was not an affidavit of fact, whether service outside jurisdiction was improperly sought, and whether the entire process amounted to an abuse of court process.
The Honourable Magistrate Sunday A. A. Adukwu, presiding at the FCT Chief Magistrate Court, Abuja, heard the arguments and carefully examined the issue of jurisdiction and due process.
After citing a series of legal authorities, the Magistrate resolved all issues in favour of the defendants.
The court dismissed and struck out the direct criminal complaint for want of jurisdiction and for being incompetent.
The court also awarded a monetary sum against the complainant.
The Magistrate followed the rule of law and ensured that the labour of our heroes past is not in vain.
I give thanks to the judiciary system, the Federal Capital Territory Chief Magistrate Court, and everyone working in the judiciary system.
Thank you for speaking for the voiceless.
Thank you for speaking the truth.
Thank you for doing the right thing.
Despite everything, justice prevailed.
Truth prevailed.
Due process spoke.
Justice was served.
Thank you.
