Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a strong warning to all public officials in Kano State following the resignation of the Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi Dala, over his alleged role in securing bail for a suspected drug dealer.

In a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Wednesday, the Governor expressed serious concern and reminded his cabinet members of the ethical standards expected under his administration.

The address came during the 30th Executive Council Meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House, Kano.

Governor Yusuf stressed that his government would not compromise in its fight against drug abuse, trafficking, and other vices endangering the youth and social stability of the state.

He warned that every public official must act responsibly both in and out of office.

“Let it be clear: we will not tolerate any conduct—official or private—that undermines the values we stand for. Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings. You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration,” the Governor stated.

He further emphasized that Namadi’s resignation should serve as a serious reminder to others in government positions.

“If anyone among you feels he can no longer uphold the trust bestowed upon him, it is better to voluntarily resign rather than engage in misconduct that could tarnish the image of this administration,” he declared.

Governor Yusuf also reiterated that the campaign against drugs and harmful behaviour remains a major priority for his government. He assured that anyone found supporting or involved in such acts—whether directly or indirectly—will face legal consequences.

“We came into office with a clear mandate to restore sanity, integrity, and progress in Kano. That mission will not be compromised. I urge all appointees to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of this administration,” he added.

He affirmed his government’s firm stance on justice, accountability, and dedicated service to the people of Kano.
