A late afternoon fire outbreak has destroyed some property at the Nigerian Breweries in Aba, Abia State.

The fire which spread to some adjourning property around the Nigerian Railways station area on Thursday, created confusion among the residents of the vicinity as they battled to put out the inferno.

But the arrival of Abia State Fire Service and other emergency agencies brought control to the situation as the officials prevented the fire from razing more properties.

Though the cause of the inferno is not yet known, Abia State government said it is gathering necessary information about the development.

A statement by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Media and Publicity, urged the residents to disregard any new video being presented as a live report.

“This is to inform the general public that the fire outbreak that occurred at the Nigerian Breweries facility this afternoon, which also spread to other facilities within the vicinity and raged for some hours, has finally been successfully contained by the Abia State Emergency Services and other supporting agencies”, Ekeoma said.
