Monday Okpebholo nominates Kassim Afegbua, three others as commissioners-designate

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of four commissioners-designate to serve in the State Executive Council.

SOCIETY REPORTERS reports that the Okpebholo had last week, August 1, 2025, approved the nomination of Barrister Nosa Adams, Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, Felix Akhabue and Prof. Omorodion Ignatius Ikponmwosa as commissioners-designate

The Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Umar Musa Ikhilor, disclosed this on Friday, August 8, 2025 in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City

The appointment of the nominees are subject to screening and confirmation by the State House of Assembly.

The four commissioner nominees are Prince Kassim Afegbua, Godwin Eshieshi, Ohimai Ehijimetor and Eugenia Abdallah.

The governor said the name of the nominees would be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation.

We reported that Governor Okpebholo had since assumption of office on November 12, 2024, only appointed nine commissioners, and with the eight new nominees, the figure would now be 17 after confirmation by the House of Assembly.

One of the nominees, Prince Kassim Afegbua, was a former Special Adviser and Commissioner for Information and Orientation during the administration of Adams Oshiomhole.
