The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has disclosed that the party is set to convene a National Executive Council, NEC, meeting to recommend the expulsion of its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Speaking on Tuesday during the Channels Morning Brief, Arabambi explained that Obi, who had previously been placed on suspension, proceeded to engage in what the party described as anti-party activities.

“You don’t join a political party and still keep your leg in another party. He knows it is unconstitutional to belong to two political parties at the same time,” Arabambi said.

“They have succeeded in luring him to their side, and there he shall remain.”

He further revealed that the NEC would soon meet to formally recommend Obi’s expulsion, which would then be confirmed at the party’s national convention in line with the Labour Party constitution and the practice of most political parties.

“When we want to expel any member who acts contrary to our constitution, the NEC makes the recommendation, and final approval is given at the convention,” Arabambi stated.

“So, Obi will be expelled from our party; he is no longer a member of the Labour Party.”
