Ezra Olubi, the Co-Founder and former Chief Technology Officer of Nigerian fintech giant Paystack, has confirmed his termination from the company, alleging that the decision was made prematurely and in contravention of internal policies, according to a statement released on November 24, 2025.

Olubi’s employment was terminated following a period of suspension initiated by the Paystack Board of Directors after his name became central to circulating online information regarding sexual misconduct allegations. Paystack, which was acquired by Stripe in 2020 in one of Africa’s largest tech deals, had previously announced an independent investigation into the matter.

The controversy began around November 12, 2025, when allegations of sexual misconduct, reportedly involving a subordinate, began circulating on social media. Compounding the situation, a series of decade-old, sexually explicit, and inappropriate tweets posted by Olubi between 2009 and 2013 resurfaced online, drawing significant public backlash and questions about corporate accountability.

In response to the growing public concern, the Paystack Board of Directors suspended Olubi from all duties, effective immediately, on or around November 14, 2025, pending the outcome of a formal investigation. The company stated at the time that it takes such matters “extremely seriously” and would not comment further to protect the integrity of the process.

In his first public statement since the suspension, Olubi claims he was informed of his termination on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He asserts that this critical action was taken “before the supposed investigation was concluded, and without any meeting, hearing, or opportunity for me to respond to the issues raised.”

Olubi argues that this alleged process violation is a “clear contravention of the terms of the suspension and Paystack’s own internal policies.”

“I engaged with this investigation in good faith and cooperated fully with the Board’s directives on that basis,” Olubi stated. He added that his initial silence was to avoid interfering with the investigation, a vacuum that he now believes “allowed assumptions and misrepresentations to spread without challenge.”

Olubi maintains that the conduct circulating online “do not reflect my conduct or the way I have lived my life” and affirms that he has always conducted himself in a manner that respects “everyone’s dignity and safety.”

The former CTO and Co-Founder confirmed that his legal team is now “reviewing the process that led to my purported termination,” specifically scrutinizing its consistency with the company’s internal policies. He concluded his statement by noting that his legal team “will take the steps they consider appropriate,” and he will not be commenting further at this time.
