On July 28, 2014, hopes for expanded tourism & business growth to Dubai
rode on the wings of Arik Air’s new service between Nigeria and UAE. On
that day, Arik Air had its inaugural flight from Lagos to Dubai Via Abuja.
Guests on board the inaugural flight included Passengers, Arik Air
management and Press men.
A departure ceremony was held at Murtala Mohammed International Airport
with speeches from Dr Michael Arumemi-Ikhide, Group CEO, Arik Air, Mrs
Sally Mbanefo DG Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, Mr. Olu
Owolabi, MD, SAHCOL and representative of MD, NAMA. The traditional water
cannon ceremony welcomed the maiden flight at Dubai International Airport.
All guests on the board the inaugural fight were also given a special
commemorative gift. The pressmen on the trip were treated to a Dubai city
tour, desert safari and boat cruise by Arik Air’s General Sales Agent
(GSA) in Dubai, Dadabhai Travel.
