Fraud and sexual misconduct allegations have trailed popular Ibadan-based cleric, Kayode Amusan otherwise known as Agbala Gabriel.

The cleric was accused of sexual misconduct and claims of mismanaging funds donated for individuals with serious health conditions.

Agbala Gabriel who had built a strong presence on social media, portraying himself as a compassionate religious leader whose ministry regularly mobilised support for vulnerable individuals, particularly those battling illnesses has come under scrutiny.

He was alleged to have mismanage medical donations raised for a sick woman as well as accusations that the cleric fathered twins with a former backup singer in his church.

One of the major issues involves the case of a woman identified as Morenikeji, who was reportedly suffering from a spinal condition and had previously attracted public donations for medical treatment.

In a video that has since gone viral, Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola recounted her involvement in raising funds for the woman’s surgery.

According to Daramola, she later discovered that the patient’s relatives had sought help from the cleric.

She said, “I initially raised money for the woman’s surgery, which wasn’t enough. But as soon as the family took her to Agbala Gabriel’s care, I withdrew.

“Later, I got to know that Gabriel abandoned them and failed to provide the support of a good accommodation and surgery he promised.”

In the same video, the woman’s daughter alleged that she eventually removed her mother from the cleric’s care over concerns about how the situation was being handled.

While the controversy surrounding the medical case continued to gain traction online, another allegation emerged.

A social media commentator and blogger known as Iyalaje Courtroom alleged during a live broadcast that the cleric was involved in mismanagement of donations and maintained inappropriate relationships with women.

She claimed that one of the women, identified as Bolu, had served as a backup singer in the church before becoming pregnant for the cleric and later giving birth to twins.

“She was about 23 when the relationship started and she is now 25,” the blogger said.

“Agbala Gabriel initially denied the pregnancy, but after pressure, he later accepted responsibility and rented a house for the lady and the twins,” she added.

The allegation was also echoed by charity advocate Princess Adeyinka, who claimed she intervened when the matter first came to light.

She said, “Agbala Gabriel impregnated Bolu and refused to take full responsibility initially. I went to him myself to beg him to take responsibility when I first heard about it, which he denied initially but later took responsibility.”

As the allegations continue to circulate widely online, the issue has sparked heated debate among social media users. While some supporters have defended the cleric, citing his history of charitable work, others have called for greater accountability and transparency.

Responding to the accusations, the cleric denied any wrongdoing.

He said: “This is how they try to bring ministers of God down. All ministers who became famous faced this kind of lies. We see men of God like Pastor Adeboye, and other famous pastors being dragged on social media every day. This is just how they do on social media, making false allegations.”
