Rivers APC congratulates the Opoboians for Abandoning Wike, PDP for APC

Describes Success of the rally as the death Warrant for Wike’s administration *Hammers Mr. Gogo Jaja for being a clog in the wheel of progress

Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the success of the Opobo/Nkoro grand reception/mega rally hosted by Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside the indefatigable Director General of NIMASA and erstwhile Governorship candidate of APC during the 2015 general elections in conjuncture with the Free Rivers Development Initiative (FRDI) in honour of the Honourable Minister of Transportation Rt. Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi as the beginning of the end of the evil administration of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The party in the same vein berated Governor Nyesom Wike for his childish act by ordering the stakeholders of Opobo-Nkoro extraction to the Government House in Port Harcourt few hours to the commencement of the reception in order to sabotage the reception in honour of his benefactor and predecessor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

This act according to the party exposes Wike as a rattled fellow who is confused on how to tackle his long awaited doom day. By threatening to withdraw the Certificate of Recognition for any government recognized Chief and to sack any government appointee from the area that attends the Free Rivers program in Opobo/Nkoro rally exposes Wike as been afraid of confronting the highly brilliant Dakuku Peterside who always makes him (Wike) jittery, fidgety and restless” said Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the Media Consultant to Dr Davies Ibiamu Ikanya the State Chairman of Rivers APC in a statement to media organizations today.

“With Wike’s failed sinister plot to disrupt the rally coupled with the massive defection of PDP members to APC; the party congratulated the Amanyanagbo of Opobo, the father of all Opobo people, King Dandeson Douglas and other great sons of Opobo for defying and abandoning the ill-conceived meeting of Opobo/Nkoro stakeholders by Gov Wike to rush back to Opobo to receive Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Dr Dakuku Peterside an illustrious son of the area and other APC faithful. This singular act of the King of the Opobo Kingdom has sealed the lips of those peddling unwarranted rumours of an imaginary conflict between Dr Dakuku and the Amanyanabo” Ikanya said.

The party concurred with all the party leaders that spoke during the reception including our leader and erstwhile Governor of Rivers State and Nigeria’s Minister for Transportation Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi that “come 2019, we must liberate Rivers State and chase away Governor Nyesom Wike and his court jesters for bringing untold hardship and pains to Rivers People.”

The party maintained that the mammoth crowd that attended the rally demonstrates the acceptance and appreciation of the great feats of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in the Opobo Kingdom. Imagine the intimidating feats of Amaechi within his first three years in office as Governor of Rivers State and the miserable three years of Wike as Rivers State Governor without executing any project in Opobo apart from using one ingrate call Mr. Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja who acts as his Commissioner of Education to ensure that the Education sector of the State is ruined and that the Opobo children on scholarship in foreign countries courtesy of the Amaechi’s administration are repatriated back without completing their studies.

The party describes Mr. Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja as an enemy of the Opobians and the State at large for plotting with Wike to attempt to frustrate the historical rally that showcased Dr Dakuku Peterside as not only very visible but a leader loved by his people including the Traditional Institution. For Mr. Jaja to use uncouth language to disparage the leader of the party in the State only positions him as a frustrated politician.

The party commended Amaechi for his foresight in setting up the following crucial projects that marks him as a true Opobian no matter the thinking of anybody – setting up the only functional Health center today in the LGA; ensuring that 27 sons and daughters of Opobo and Nkoro were sent abroad for their studies on scholarship, establishment of the Opobo Fish farm which has long been abandoned by visionless Gov. Wike, the massive land reclamation that gave Opobo almost half of a new town, the posting of more Teachers to the schools in Opobo/Nkoro LGA, the appointment of the first Opobo son as the commissioner of works and finance, the upgrading of five (5) chieftaincy stools as against the only one (1) initially recognized.

The party noted that apart from all the above feats, Amaechi raised the status of Dr Dakuku Peterside Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside an illustrious son of Opobo to the national and international scene by ensuring his appointment as the DG of NIMASA from where he was elected as the first Nigerian to occupy the office of the Chairman and President of the Association of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA). Dakuku a true son of Biriye war canoe house of Opobo and most importantly the Amaopusenibo (accomplished statesman) of Opobo kingdom, a title installed on him by the Amayanabo of Opobo has nothing else to prove that he has come of age so far leadership is concerned, the party enthused.

Dr Dakuku Peterside captured the mind of the party when he addressed the mammoth crowd with these words, “The people and the ancestors of Opobo and Nkoro kingdoms will ever be happy with Amaechi who has at every time see Opobo people as his own brothers and sisters and for all the numerous people oriented projects he executed in Opobo/Nkoro while he held sway as the Governor of Rivers state. Opobo/Nkoro people are delighted to honor him today and will continue to follow him wherever he goes.”

The party congratulated Engr Sampson Ngerebara the President of Free Rivers Development Initiative (FRDI), an APC NGO and his colleagues for selling the ideals and principles of the party to all the nooks, cranny and sections of the State, assuring him that the party will always stand by him in his drive to ensure that the party takes over power in the State come 2019.

Dr. Sam Sam Jaja one time Deputy National Chairman of PDP and a chieftain of APC in his speech appreciated the honourable minister for all his developmental presence in every part of the LGA and described Dr. Dakuku Peterside, the Amaopusenibo of Opobo Kingdom as a worthy and illustrious son loved by his people and well deserving of any honour conferred on him by the good people of Opobo and Nkoro kingdoms.

The party expressed gratitude to the Balolo of Opobo Kingdom, Ama-Opusenibo (Dr.) Sam Sam Jaja, JP and other Opobo people who had in Amaechi’s times of difficulties stood with him and urged Opobo and Nkoro people to have a formidable front and always be there for each other to enable them achieve their goals.

The event witnessed the defection of thousands of PDP and core leaders of GDI (Wike’s foot soldiers) to APC; presentation of Awards to Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Dakuku Peterside; the verification and inauguration of Opobo/Nkoro Free Rivers Development Initiative.

Apart from the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Dr Dakuku Peterside DG NIMASA, other true leaders of APC that attended the event in no particular order were :

* Chief Davis Ibiamu Ikanya, State Chairman, APC Rivers

* Distinguished Senator Andrew Uchendu, Rivers East Senatorial district

JUST IN: President Tinubu Orders Yahaya Bello To Submit Himself For EFCC Probe

Published

on

By

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has called on the immediate-past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to follow the path of decency and submit himself for probe.

Bello is being wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged corrupt practices while in office as governor of Kogi State

LEADERSHIP reports that in the last 24 hours, there have been dramas and hide and seek game between both parties over the move to arrest the former governor for arraignment this Thursday.

According to the AGF, in a statement he personally signed on Thursday, EFCC is empowered by law to invite any Nigerian for interrogation.

He also described the action of the incumbent governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, who used his immunity to prevent Bello’s arrest on Wednesday as ‘disquieting’, adding that embarking on a temporising self-help and escapism that can only put Nigeria in bad light before the rest of the world is not the way to go.

According to him, he stands for the rule of law and will ensure no right of any Nigerian is trampled upon.

The AGF said in the terse statement: “The bizarre drama confronting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the course of its efforts to perform its statutory duty has come to my notice (Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice) as a matter of very grave concern.

“It is now beyond doubt that the EFCC is given power by the law to invite any person of interest to interact with them in the course of their investigation into any matter regardless of status. Therefore, the least that we can all do when invited, is not to put any obstruction in the way of EFCC but to honourably answer their invitation.

“A situation where public officials who are themselves subject of protection by law enforcement agents will set up a stratagem of obstruction to the civil and commendable efforts of the EFCC to perform its duty is to say the least, insufferably disquieting. A flight

from the law does not resolve issues at stake but only exacerbates it.

“I state unequivocally that I stand for the rule of law and will promptly call EFCC and indeed any other agency to order when there is indication of any transgression of the fundamental rights of any Nigerian by any of the agencies but I also tenaciously hold the view that institutions of State should be allowed to function effectively and efficiently. Nigeria has a vibrant judicial system that is capable of protecting everyone who follows the rule of law in seeking protection.

“I therefore encourage anyone who has been invited by the EFCC or any other agency to immediately toe the path of decency and civility by honouring such invitation instead of embarking on a temporising self-help and escapism that can only put our country in bad light before the rest of the world.

Kano court affirms Ganduje’s suspension

Published

By

The Kano State High Court has granted an ex parte order restraining the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, from parading himself as a member of the party.

Subsequently, the court ordered that henceforth, Ganduje should desist from presiding over all affairs of the National Working Committee of the APC.

The application granted by Justice Usman Na’abba on Tuesday followed an ex parte motion filed by Dr. Ibrahim Sa’ad on behalf of two executive members of Ganduje’s ward, Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area, the Assistant Secretary, Laminu Sani and Legal Adviser, Haladu Gwanjo (plaintiffs), who were part of the nine ward executives who suspended Ganduje on Monday.

The court directed the four parties (respondents) joined in the matter, including the APC, NWC, APC Kano State Working Committee, and Ganduje, to henceforth, maintain status quo ante belum as of April 15, 2024, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit on April 30, 2024.

Justice Na’abba, also held as prayed, stopped State Working Committee APC Kano from interfering with the legally and validly considered decision of executives of Ganduje ward, essentially on action endorsed by a two-thirds majority of the executives as provided by the party constitution.

The ex parte order read,, “An order is hereby granted directing all parties in the suit APC (first), APC National Working Committee (second), Kano State Working Committee APC (third), Dr. Abdullah Umar Ganduje (fourth), to maintain status quo ante belum as of April 15, 2024.

”The order thereby restraining the first respondent (APC) from recognising the fourth respondent (Ganduje) as a member of APC and prohibiting the fourth respondent (Ganduje) from presiding over any affairs of the NWC and restraining the state Working Committee from interfering with the legally and validly decision of the ward executives of Ganduje ward.

“That the fourth respondent (Ganduje) is prohibited from parading himself as a member of APC or doing any act that may portray him or seem to be a member of APC pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.”

Nine members of the Ganduje ward proclaimed the suspension of the National Chairman of the APC over the allegation of corruption slammed on him by the Kano State Government.

The nine APC executives said they were prompted to act following a petition written by one Ja’afaru Adamu, a member of the APC from the National Chairman’s polling unit.

In the petition, Adamu complained over allegations of corruption charges against the former governor just as he urged the ward leaders to investigate the matter to redeem the dented image of the party and the implication on President Bola Tinubu’s fight against corruption.

Although the chairman and secretary of the ward failed to act on the petition filed on April 8, 2024, nine members of the executives, led by the legal adviser, acted upon the petition, a decision that led to Ganduje’s suspension.
