MEET OUR CELEBRITY HOUSEMATES 2018 CONTESTANTS

The much talked about, first of its kind reality show in Nigeria tagged ‘THE CELEBRITY HOUSEMATE’ reality show will definitely hit your TV screens from 12th January to 12th February 2018. The reality show themed ‘CONVERGENCE OF CULTURE, LIFESTYLE & ENTERTAINMENT’ is expected to last for 30 days. The show will amongst other things promote peace, entertain, and unify our dear nation using the celebrity lifestyles, competitiveness and the cultural differences which will come to play among the housemates in the house. The housemates, which is made up of men and women of strong characters who have made their marks in their different fields of endeavour (music, acting, comedy) have assured their fans that they would give their best to make the reality TV show worthwhile, not forgetting the mouth-watering prices for the winner of the show.
Eniola Badmus, popularly called ‘Gbogbo Bigz Girls’ a graduate of Theatre Arts from University of Ibadan, who started professional acting in 2008 and has starred in films like Jenifa and Omo Ghetto, will be battling it out with her fellow Yoruba actor, Doris. Doris Simeon is an award winning Yoruba and English actor, TV producer and presenter, she started her acting career in Papa Ajasco, and then Alakada, Ten Million Naira etc.
In the music side is Iledare Oluwajunwonlo aka Jaywon, a Nigerian singer, song writer, performer, producer and actor. Jaywon who started his music career with Kennis Music and was with them for a long time before launching his own label ‘Next World Music’ in 2013, will be battling it out with fellow musician Ruggedman. Michael Ugochukwu Stevens aka Ruggedman is a graduate of political science from Lagos State University and started his music career in 1999. Ruggedman has performed alongside international music stars such as KC & Jojo, Sean Paul, Wyclef Jean, Akon, Wayne Wonder, Ja Rule, Kevin Little, LL Cool J, T Pain, Nas and Nelly. Ruggedman who is also a designer has anchored reality shows such as Star Quest, MTN Project Fame Official Press Media Launch.
Olayomi Fash Lanso a very talented actor, director and business tycoon, is a business administration graduate from University of Lagos. He started professional acting in 1995 through the movie Omodara and has won several movie awards since then. Yomi is also a cultural ambassador of Olokun Festival and he will be battling it out with Saheed Muhammed aka Funky Mallam, unknown to many Funky Mallam was first a singer before he veered into acting and became eventually stereotyped for Hausa roles because of his apt portrayal of the characters of the Hausa tribe. The Bayero University Mass Communication graduate has won several awards and endorsements for his craft.
Frederick Leonard is from Anambra State and a graduate of Biochemistry who went into professional acting in 2008 through a classic movie titled ‘Indian Doctor’ and later ‘Disclosure’ a TV Series. Needless to say that Frederick is a good actor who has carved an enviable niche for himself and has many awards in his kitty. Frederick must have met young actor Junior Pope on locations before however, they will be battling it out in the Celebrity House. Pope Obumneme Odonwodo popularly known as Junior Pope, is a Nollywood actor from Enugu State, raised briefly in Cameroon, he eventually bagged an Accounting degree from University of Nigeria. Junior pope made his acting debut in 2007 in a movie ‘Secret Adventure’ produced by Tchidi Chikere. Since then he has starred in other block busters and made a name for himself as well as awards for his career. He got married in 2014.
Gift Iyumame popularly known as Muma Gee is a Nigerian singer, song writer, businesswoman, fashion designer, actor, TV personality and politician. Muma Gee who is a Theatre Arts graduate from University of Port Harcourt came to limelight with her song ‘Tade’ which was released in her first album in 2006. Tade song not only had amazing soundtrack, its accompanying dramatic video automatically turned Muma Gee’s career around. Muma Gee has won several music awards and was also a contestant in the ‘Gulder Ultimate Celebrity’ reality show in 2010, which had the likes of Chioma Chukwuka, Funke Akindele, Emeka Ike etc. With her very strong character and opinionated personality, we can be rest assured that she would give her competitor Ogenna Ekwubiri a good fight. Beauty Queen and 2016 Miss Tourism Ogenna Ekwubiri, a graduate of International Relations from Imo State University is also a business woman. The very pretty lady owns a spa in Abuja and Havilah Walter, a consulting firm. Ogenna who also won the Queen of Aso in 2014, is very much interested in a TV related career in the near future.
Ada Ameh is a popular Nollywood actress, well known for playing comic roles. She hails from Idoma, Benue State Nigeria. Ada’s story is an interesting one because she gave birth as a teenager out of wedlock which affected her education during those periods but never affected her aspirations of becoming a celebrity in her chosen career, Nollywood. She has featured in several movies such as Zeb Ejiro’s 1996 movie Domitilla, her very first as an actor, Civil War, Chop Money, Bullet. If Ada Ameh does not reach you in a film, you are sure to feast on her gifted talent on TV, particularly on the now very popular family drama series on Africa Magic, The Johnsons, where she plays Emuakpo Johnsons, the semi-illiterate wife of the screen character, Lucky Johnson. You can be rest assured that Ada and Chelsea Eze must have crossed each other’s path in the past either at a location or any of the entertainment events around, but this time around they will both exhibit their best in the house while they determines who is best at their craft. Popularly known as Chelsea Eze, she was born on 15th November. She is a talented actress. Chelsea Eze hails from Umuahia in Abia State, in the eastern part of Nigeria but was born and bred in Kano state. Her parents were both bankers. Studied English and Linguistics at the University of Maiduguri. She came into limelight in her first Nollywood film, Silent Scandals where she acted alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Majid Michael.

Theo Ukpaa, Shuaibu Hussein, Others Shine at the Event!

 

 

The Coal City Film Festival 2024, hosted at the scenic Nike Lake Resort Hotel in Enugu, Nigeria, was a spectacular showcase of glamour and glitz. This premier film event, the largest in the South East, was organized in partnership with the Enugu State government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The festival celebrates the richness of film, culture, and authenticity while providing a platform for industry stakeholders to enhance their artistic and business acumen.

 

This annual event, dedicated to celebrating African cinema, offered a variety of engaging activities in this year’s edition. Attendees enjoyed free film screenings, master classes, and panel discussions. The festival also featured unique cultural experiences, such as a palm wine and bush meat roundtable, a city tour, an awards gala night, and a lively party, all of which attracted many beautiful faces from the film industry and beyond.

The 3-day event saw a gathering of filmmakers, actors, policymakers, and development agencies in the vibrant Coal City. Notable attendees included the President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, Film and TV Producer Theo Ukpaa, Dr. Shuaibu Hussein, Ijeoma Onah, Andy Amenechi and veteran actors like Segun Arinze and Obi Okoli, adding to the star-studded ambiance of the festival.

 

A major highlight of the festival was the screening of ‘IFEDICHE,’ a movie that opened the Coal City Film Festival 2024. This special film, made in Coal City, revolves around a cultural meal of Enugu, showcasing the region’s rich culinary heritage.

 

The Festival Jury includes Jude Idana, Theo Ukpaa, Chichi Nworah, Arul Marewad and Charles Okwuowulu.

 

Uche Agbo, the founder and Executive Director of the Coal City Film Festival, expressed the festival’s vision to open the doors of South-east Nigeria to the rest of the world through the medium of film. This year’s festival not only celebrated African cinema but also served as a bridge connecting the local culture and creativity to a global audience.

2024 Young Orators National Finals

The city of Ibadan, Nigeria, hosted a captivating spectacle as finalists from across the nation gathered for the 2024 Young Orators national final competition. Organised by the Peat Philips Foundation, this prestigious event serves as the Nigerian franchise of the International Public Speaking Competition, annually conducted by the English-Speaking Union.

 

Akinleye Olu-Philips, Team Lead at Peat Philips Foundation, highlighted Ibadan’s rich literary heritage, underscoring its significance as a nurturing ground for literary talents in Nigeria.

 

Amidst fierce competition, 20-year-old Folakemi Adebayo, a second-year Law student at the University of Ibadan, clinched the coveted title. Torkuma Mimidoo Perpetual (17), a science student from Rosladys College, Gboko, Benue State and Inioluwa Sodunke from De – Glorious Heritage School, Lagos State, secured the second and third positions respectively.

 

Folakemi Adebayo’s victory earns her the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 2024 International Public Speaking Competition scheduled in London from May 13 to 17. The national final was generously sponsored by Learn Africa Plc, with support from Alpha FC Abuja.

Charles Inojie and Ali Nuhu, through their viral video titled #MakeWeHalla, have initiated a much-needed conversation on the pressing issue of domestic violence.

 

The video features the two talented actors in a humorous yet thought-provoking short video, emphasising the importance of speaking out against domestic violence.

With their trademark wit and charm, Inojie and Nuhu delivered a compelling message; when Nigerians witness domestic violence, they must make noise, they must ‘halla’.

The video is capturing the attention of viewers across various demographics, sparking discussions on online platforms.

 

Among many Nigerians who have been inspired by the video is a fast-rising actor and social media influencer, Joseph Momodu.

 

He wrote, “Yesoooo Oga Charles. The voice of the people is the voice of God. Domestic violence is not good and the more reason to really Halla!!”

 

A popular Nigerian film director and social media personality, Falalu Abubakar Dorayi, also known as Falalu A. Dorayi, added his voice against sitting on the fence while witnessing incidents of domestic violence. To him, “Women abuse is a bad behavior. Silence, when we see people doing (it), is like giving a chance to continue. It’s true, everywhere we see signs of “abuse” happening. Let’s expose the secrets. #MakeWeHalla.”

 

“This is powerful. We must halla! Like I always say, to fix this nation, you must fix yourself first. You are a part of the nation; once you fix you, you have fixed the nation. This is applicable to a community where domestic violence thrives,” Lanre Adediwura, an award-winning actor and online personality, opined.

 

A Nigerian actress and online celebrity, Kiitan Bukola, said that Nigerians can’t continue to sit on the fence in the face of domestic violence. “We must halla; we can’t continue to ignore. let’s kick against domestic violence… ,“ she wrote.

 

The success of #MakeWeHalla by encouraging individuals to speak up, is empowering communities to break the cycle of silence and stigma.

 

Inojie and Nuhu’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as their initiative has garnered widespread praise and support from both fans and advocacy groups alike.
